How do i set the graphical environment to a full 32 bit deph resolution on a first revision tangerine i book? i have already tried Xconfigurator, Xautoconfig3 and Xautoconfig4 and they all failed to give me 32 bits of resolution. All i get is 8 bit deph with Xautoconfig3, while Xautoconfig4 and Xconfigurator crash my X server at all possible resolutions. I even tried tampering with my XF86Config file to force a 32 bit depth resolution but to no avail: got the gdm murdered misteriously error and a flickering screen. So, what's left for me, how can I get a full working X server?. Thank you very much for your help...

Hi all, I've just installed Linux PPC 200 Q4 on my 500Mhz iMac with the ATI Rage 128 video card. The system works fine, but I see the whole screen moved some pixels to the left and in 1024x768x8. I would like to have the (centered) screen on 800x600 with 16bit color depth.... I know I have to define this on the yaboot.conf file... but I couldnt find any instructions. If anyone could help me, it would be great.

Had YDL 2.0 running installed no problem, but i couldn't get it to boot into mac os, so i reset the PRAM now I can't get YDL to boot, I've tried booting it in openfirmware but it says it can't open yaboot.

I have a PowerMac 4400 running Yellow Dog Linux 2.0, and a LaserWriter Select 310 connected to that. I tried using printtool to add the printer to printcaps and tried using stty to set the correct communication settings for /dev/ttyS1 but it refuses to print anything!

Hello, I just got a brand new nifty ibook2. After installing a million times I finally have woody running. I am using my ibook a lot at school however when I walk in late the annoying bell is a little disruptive when I boot up. Is it possible to disable this? Thank you...

I was wondering if there is a Macromedia Flash 5 player out there that will work with Linux running on Mac hardware. I'm brand new at this so please help.

Playing audio files (E.g. AU and WAV) work okay on my iMac DV SE circa 2000. However, both the Gnome and KDE CD Players fail to play an inserted music CD i.e. no sound is produced although the programs seem oblivious to this. I have the same results with LinuxPPC (latest), Yellowdog 2.0, and Mandrake 8.0 [currently installed and I'd like to keep it]. Note that after booting over to the MAcOS 9.0.4 side of the same machine, I can play music CDs. Thank you ina advance for any help that you can render, Richard

I have a 7500 with g3, and everything worked slickly until I added an Adaptec 2940UW card and an Ultrastar HD. I compiled 2.4.7 and the scsi issues no longer exist, but the 2940 becomes channel A, and the onboard scsi goes from a & b to b & c. My linux partitions are connected to a Quantum 50pin drive on channel B. (MESH) I changed the box in the BootX app/control panel accordingly, and I tried the "root=/dev/sdb9" arg, but nothing worked.
