iMacLinux Screenshots

This page contains screenshots from PowerMacs running PowerPC Linux. The purpose of this page is to show off some of things you can do with PowerPC Linux on the desktop, and to give you ideas how to improve your PowerPC Linux desktop. This page is work in progress, I'm looking for your suggestions to improve it.

If you would like to contribute a screenshot to this page, please email DocTomoe, with your screenshot (in .jpg format only, please), along with your hardware configuration, your X11 version, and whatever software you see running in your screenshot.

Keep in mind, we can only post a limited amount of screenshots, and that they need to be appropiate for all age levels. ;) Old screenshots may be removed to make room for new ones.

AArthur Running Blackbox & X-Chat

This is a screenshot of Andrew Arthur's desktop running X-Chat, gkrellm, blackbox and several other programs. The blackbox window manager theme and gtk+ theme were hand tweaked by himself. The background is scanned in from the cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival's Cosmos Factory Album.

He created this screenshot on his PowerMac 4400/200, running Debian GNU/Linux with 96 MB of RAM, running Xpmac on a ATI Mach64 VT card.

AArthur's KDE 2.1 Desktop with Konsole

This is a screenshot of Andrew Arthur's desktop running KDE 2.1, the KDE Terminal program known as konsole, RISC OS kwin theme, a tan-ish color scheme (based in part on Windows 2000), the default widget style. Background is from the We Five's Album "You Were On My Mind".

He created this screenshot on his PowerMac 4400/200, running Debian GNU/Linux with 96 MB of RAM, running Xpmac on a ATI Mach64 VT card.

AArthur's KDE 2.1 Desktop with Konqueror

This is a screenshot of Andrew Arthur's desktop running KDE 2.1, the wonderful Konqueror web browser (probably the best web browser I have ever used on a Mac or Linux), default kwin theme, default widget style, almost default color scheme (except blue was changed to green in the window manager border/some widgets). On the right hand side there is kicker's dock application bar, that lets you run WindowMaker applets inside of KDE, and below that is RealPlayer 8.0, playing a video from CNN.com.

He created this screenshot on his PowerMac 4400/200, running Debian GNU/Linux with 96 MB of RAM, running Xpmac on a ATI Mach64 VT card.
